NREGA wages first converging and then diverging

The tussle between center government and state government might affect the performance of one of the most extensive and successful (so far) safety net interventions.  More about NREGA here. In short, the program offers 100 days of guaranteed employment per annum to at least one member of rural household; unemployment benefits are given if the state fails to provide jobs within 15 days of work demanded by workers; and wage is equal to minimum unskilled agricultural wage.
