Good news (at least for me)!

So, I got this email today:

Dear Chandan -

It is the our extreme pleasure to inform you that FEI Central PA Chapter Board of Directors has selected you as the recipient of the FEI 2009 Outstanding Student Award for Dickinson College.

This Award will be presented to you at the FEI Educator's Night meeting on March 24, 2008.  You are welcome to invite your parents or a guest to attend the dinner and meeting as guests of the Chapter.

The award winners should arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. at the headquarters of The Hershey Company at 100 Crystal A Drive, Hershey.  I am sure you will be able to travel with one of the professors from the Economics Department. If you choose to go on your own let me know and I will send you directions.  We can firm up travel plans after Spring Break.

Please let us know that you are able to attend this dinner and award ceremony.

The Economics Department

I just arrived in the college from a trip to DC. I had gone to give an interview for a fellows position at a reputed think tank. All I can do now is to be optimistic! :)

Forever Globalization!

Globalization is such a diverse, broad-based, and potent force that not even today’s massive economic crash will dramatically slow it down or permanently reverse it. Love it or hate it, globalization is here to stay.

The bottom line: Nationalism never disappeared. Globalization did not lessen national identities; it just rendered them more complex. Even in a Bill Gates era, today’s Otto von Bismarcks still wield great power. Globalization and geopolitics coexist, and neither is going anywhere.
